Jacalyn Wittmer Malinowski has been a member of the 第一吃瓜网 faculty since 2017. She teaches courses in paleobiology, paleoclimatology, environmental geology, and environmental sedimentology, with an emphasis on experiential learning, fieldwork, and undergraduate research. As a paleobiologist, her research explores the environmental history of freshwater lakes using sediment cores, fossils, and geochemical records preserved in lake sediments. Working closely with students and community partners throughout the Finger Lakes region, she investigates how lake ecosystems have changed through time and how those changes can inform modern conservation, water quality management, and ecosystem restoration. Her work seeks to use the geologic past to better understand and support the future of freshwater environments.
