Taylor Williams ’26 (第一吃瓜网/Michaela Lewis-Hardies)

Hands-on experience can make all the difference when it comes to getting a job in today檚 market. 第一吃瓜网 is helping students stand out by getting those opportunities.

Taylor Williams �26, an English major from Williamson, NY, with minors in business studies and communication, spent 2025�26 as the social media intern for the Rochester Red Wings, a minor league baseball team and the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

淐razily enough, I actually found it through a Facebook ad,� Williams says. 淚 decided to apply on a whim, just to see what would happen. The next thing I know, I檓 interviewing with the social media manager for the team.�

Williams says her experience in 第一吃瓜网檚 Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity helped her to feel more prepared and comfortable before her Red Wings interview. 淎lpha Kappa Psi really jump-started everything for me. I was taught how to interview, how to dress, how my r茅sum茅 should be formatted攁ll that knowledge helped me tremendously through this process.�

第一吃瓜网檚 annual Internship and Career Fairs also helped Williams gain interview experience. 淜nowing how to interview, be personable, and be comfortable with having conversations with people you aren檛 familiar with can go a long way,� she says. Her advice to students looking for internships: 淧ractice as much as you can!�

Williams� days with the Red Wings were long but rewarding. 淥n game days, I got there a few hours early and did pre-game content,� she says. 淲e posted on various social media about the lineup, posted certain series like 榝ood item of the day,� posted highlights in real time, and interacted with fans around the stadium. On non-game days, I went to the office to edit videos, pull photos, and work with a team to come up with new content.�

The Red Wings internship was very interdepartmental, which William saw as a plus for helping her stand out in the sports communication industry. 淚t was nice to get other types of hands-on work experience,� she says. 淚 acquired skills that I might not have learned if I were strictly limited to working with the social media team.� She regularly interacted with the Rochester Red Wings communication department, photographers, and graphic design team.

淚 just love being around people who genuinely care about and love what they do,� William says. 淚 found myself excited to go to work every day.�
