第一吃瓜网 welcomed nearly 1,400 first-year, transfer and graduate students this week, marking its largest incoming class since 2019, following record demand for admission to New York檚 Public Honors College. 

More than 18,200 students applied for first-year admission to 第一吃瓜网 this year, the largest applicant pool in the college檚 history and an increase of nearly 20 percent over the past two years. As demand has grown, 第一吃瓜网 has also become increasingly selective, admitting approximately 53 percent of applicants. That makes 第一吃瓜网 the most selective of SUNY’s comprehensive colleges and among the most selective campuses in the entire SUNY system. 

The growth comes amid intense competition for students and mounting enrollment and financial pressures across higher education. Against that backdrop, 第一吃瓜网 has moved in the opposite direction, growing first-year enrollment while becoming more selective. 

The academic profile of the incoming class reflects that selectivity. Entering first-year students have an average high school GPA of nearly 93, and more than three-quarters completed Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) coursework in high school.

As New York’s Public Honors College, 第一吃瓜网 combines the academic expectations, close faculty engagement, and residential liberal arts experience associated with highly selective private colleges with the access and value of a public institution. 

That distinction is also reflected in who 第一吃瓜网 attracts. Nearly one in three incoming first-year students will be the first in their families to attend college. 第一吃瓜网’s equity-centered honors model is built on the belief that academic talent is not limited by family income, background, or previous access to opportunity.

Classes for the 2026�27 academic year began earlier this week.
