The (CUR) has selected a µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø student-faculty research mentor team for the 2024 advocacy program (STR).
The STR program provides a multi-month program aimed at developing their communication and advocacy skills, empowering them to convey the power of the high-impact practices of undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative inquiry experience to diverse stakeholder groups. CUR focuses on giving a voice to undergraduate research by learning through doing. It provides connections to a multitude of campuses and government agencies, all while promoting networking and professional growth in its community. This is the STR program™s third year”and µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø™s third year participating.
Mentor/mentee teams were selected based on their excellence in undergraduate research and their understanding of the importance of advocating for this high-impact practice. The µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø team is composed of Addie Balogun ’27, of Huntington Station, NY, a French and communication double major, along with Samuel Scamardo ’27, a French and adolescence education major who is minoring in history and anthropology, from Schenectady, NY, and their faculty and research mentor Professor Kodjo Adabra, French and Francophone Studies.
This year™s 63 STR teams represent 57 institutions from 22 states, comprising 65 campus representatives and 146 undergraduate researchers.
